MCHS Eagles Move To 3-0
It was a comeback win for the Eagles football team of Montgomery County High School last Friday night on the road against the Hawkinsville Red Devils. MCHS scored a touchdown late to come away with the big win. The Eagles got their first score of the night on a 13-yard touchdown run by quarterback Bo Davidson, which was set up by an 18yard pass from Davidson to Xavier Brantley. They failed on the extra point, but led 6- 0. MCHS got a few big plays like a 34-yard pass from Davidson to Cameron Wallace and a 25-yard pass to Samari Madison, but they could not punch it in for the score. In the second quarter the Devils tied the game at 6-6, and then took the lead and pushed ahead to a 19-6 lead. MCHS got a field goal from Mario Ortega from 31 yards out to make it 19-9 at halftime. In the third quarter the Eagles continued to fight as they got big plays from Brandon Denmark and Wallace as they closed the lead to 19-15. In the fourth quarter the Eagles took the lead on a 30-yard run by Brantley with just over two minutes left in the game. That put them on top 21-19, and they held on to get the win. This Friday night the Eagles will play their fist home game of the season as they host a very tough Wilcox County team that is ranked #7 in the state. MCHS is 3-0 on the season so far.
