Wheeler Softball Keeps Improving
The Wheeler County High School Lady Bulldogs softball team played three games last week, winning two of them to improve their record to 10-5 overall and 7-3 in the Region. They got wins over Hawkinsville and Treutlen, but fell to Wilcox County. Wheeler vs. Hawkinsville
Wheeler had a good showing against Hawkinsville on Monday of last week. Wheeler scored first with three runs in the top of the third inning. They added a run in the fifth and then two more in the sixth as they took a 6-0 lead into the final inning. In the seventh the Bulldogs
picked up one more run as they took the win over Hawkinsville, 7-0.
Wheeler vs. Wilcox
The only loss of the week came against Wilcox County on Tuesday. It was a pitching dual over the first four innings of the game with neither team scoring a single run. Wilcox finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs. They added one more in the sixth as they went on to win the game 4-0 over Wheeler.
Wheeler vs. Treutlen
It was another close game for the Vikings on Thursday as they traveled to take on Wheeler County in Alamo. Treutlen tried to come back late, but fell in the final inning. The first runs of the game came from Wheeler in the fourth inning when they put four runs on the board. Treutlen got their first runs in the top of the sixth inning with three to close the lead to 4-3. Wheeler added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 5-3. Treutlen tied the game in the seventh inning with two runs to make it 5-5, but Wheeler got one across in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the win, 6-5 over the Vikings.
This week the Bulldogs hosted Johnson County on Tuesday after presstime, and will be back in action on Thursday when Dublin comes to town at 5:00 p.m.
