City of Vidalia Names New City Clerk/Financial Director
Former Glenville City Manager Amy Murray will assume the role of City Clerk/Financial Director for the City of Vidalia on January 4. The City Council made the announcement following a called session on November 25. Murray will succeed Bill Bedingfield, who has served the City for 13 years and is retiring at the end of December. “Mrs. Murray comes to the City of Vidalia with a wealth of knowledge and experience in municipal finance,” said Vidalia City Manager Nick Overstreet in a press release. Murray served as Glennville’s City Manager for the previous 13 years where she was also the Finance Director and Personnel Director. Murray holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Georgia Southern University. She has earned certifications as a level one and two Finance Officer and a Public Manager from the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Mayor Doug Roper is looking forward to Murray joining the city’s team, “First and foremost, I want to thank Mr. Bill Bedingfield for his years of service and exceptional work as our City Clerk and Finance Director.
