Ms. Edna Smith

Ms. Edna Mae Bryan Smith, age 78, of Lyons, died on Saturday, November 28, 2020, in Meadows Health in Vidalia after a brief illness. Ms. Smith was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, growing up in the Johnson Corner Community, and was a 1960 graduate of Toombs Central School. She worked at several nursing homes for many years, including Toombs Nursing Home in Lyons. She was a member of Normantown Baptist Church and attended Marietta Free Will Baptist Church in the Blue Ridge Community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas Bryan and Sally Shepherd Bryan; and 2 sisters, Ilounia Hutto and Katie Bell Bryan. Survivors include 5 daughters, Denise Lundy and husband James of the Five Points Community, Becky Gay and husband Donny, and Carol Hester and husband Eddie of the Blue Ridge Community, Lacey O’Neal and husband Brian of Blythe, and Casey Burke and husband D.J. of Reidsville; 1 brother, E.R. Bryan and wife Velma of Effingham County; 11 grandchildren; 6 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Rev. Johnny Bryan and Rev. Chris Clark officiating. Burial followed in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Nicholas Hester, Nathan Bryan, Tommy Bryan, Eric Bryan, Zach Cravey and Austin Sears.
