Dirt Bike Fatality in Toombs
A teenager was killed Saturday when the dirt bike he was operating was struck by a car.
The victim was identified as Michael Damieon Harrison, 19, of Lyons. Captain Jordan Kight of the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office said Harrison’s dirt bike and the car that struck him from the rear were both traveling north on Scarlett Road near Lyons when the accident occurred around 7 p.m.
“It was dark and Harrison’s vehicle did not have lights,“ Kight said. The car involved in the mishap came to rest in a ditch next to the road. The driver of that vehicle, who was not identified, was not injured.
Harrison was not wearing a helmet, Kight said. No charges have been filed in the case at this time. Both the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol are investigating.
