Mr. Luther Caraway

Mr. Luther Caraway, age 64, of the Normantown Community, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Meadows Health after a brief illness. Mr. Caraway was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and a 1974 graduate of Vidalia Comprehensive High School. He retired after 29 years as Assistant Manager in Materials Management at Meadows Regional Medical Center. He served two terms on the Toombs County Board of Education and was a member and Past Master of Lyons Masonic Lodge #49. He was a licensed auctioneer, former member of the Vidalia First Church of the Nazarene and a charter member of Calvary Way Church in Lyons. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.F. Caraway and Morrine Davis Caraway; and an infant sister, Charlotte Caraway.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sandra Rogers Caraway, and 1 son, Luther Cecil “L.C.” Caraway and wife Crystal, all of Normantown; 3 sisters, Debbie Caraway Williamson and husband Mark, Donna Caraway Maltby and husband Mikel, all of Normantown, and Charlene Caraway Jackson and husband Ralph of Wrightsville; several nieces and nephews; beloved pets, Nick and Teddy Bear; and grandkitties.

A graveside funeral service was held on Monday, February 1, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., at Pinecrest Cemetery, with Pastor Elemer Caraway officiating. Masonic Rites were observed, and members of the Lyons Masonic Lodge #49 served as pallbearers.
