Treutlen Has Busy Week
The Treutlen County High School Vikings basketball teams played three sets of games last week as they are edging closer to the end of the regular season. The girls and boys swept Hawkinsville on Tuesday and Johnson County on Friday, but dropped both games to the Irish of Dublin on Saturday.
Girls vs. Hawkinsville
It was a low scoring game for the Lady Vikings against the Lady Red Devils, but they did just enough to pull out the win. Hawkinsville led the game 4-2 at the end of the first period, and at halftime the Devils were up 12-8.
In the third Treutlen came storming back as they outscored Hawkinsville 12-4 to take a 20-16 lead. Treutlen held on in the fourth to take the win, 28-24.
Boys vs. Hawkinsville
It was a big first period that was the difference in this game for the Vikings. They jumped out to an 18-5 lead in the first and were on top 30- 21 at halftime. Treutlen extended that lead in the third to 51-39 and they rolled to a 69-51 victory.
Girls vs. Johnson
It was a much better game offensively for the Lady Vikings as they got the win over Johnson County. Treutlen came away with a 59-50 win over the Lady Trojans to add a Region win to their totals.
Boys vs. Johnson
In the boys game, Truetlen held an early 18-11 lead. The Vikings added to that in the second period to take a 33-25 lead into halftime.
The Trojans kept pace in the third, but trailed 49-42 going to the fourth. Treutlen got the win, 68-59 over the Trojans.
Girls vs. Dublin
The Lady Irish defense kept the Lady Vikings in check all game as they took the Region win. Dublin led 16-6 at the end of the first and were up 25-9 at halftime.
The Irish pulled away in the third and went on to get the win over Treutlen, 47-19.
Boys vs. Dublin
The boys also fell to the Irish. Dublin led 14-7 at the end of the first and held a 29-16 halftime lead. In the third Dublin extended their lead to 44-28 an they took the win over the Vikings, 61- 41. This week the Vikings will wrap up the regular season as they hosted Telfair County on Tuesday after presstime, will be at Wilcox County on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and will end with Montgomery County in Mt. Vernon on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
