March 19, 2021, at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. Deacon Mitchell was a native of Toombs County. He was retired from Choo Choo Building Supplies of Vidalia and was a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia. Survivors include his wife, Fannie Jean Mitchell, Vidalia; 2 daughters, Tabitha Jackson, Vidalia, and Beverly Marshal, Soperton; special grandchildren, Leslie Jackson and Hannah Johnson, both of Vidalia, and Jessica Hill, Warner Robins; 8 additional grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service was held on Thurday, March 25, 2021, in Eternal Glory Gardens in Vidalia.
