TCHS Splits With VHS & SEB
The Toombs County High School soccer teams played in a pair of matches last Tuesday against rival Vidalia High School and then took on Southeast Bulloch Girls vs. VHS on Friday at home.
In the girls game against the Lady Indians neither team was able to find the net in the first half, sending the game to halftime tied at 0-0.
In the second half of the game the Lady Bulldogs picked up one goal and then held VHS to get the big Region win, 1-0.
Boys vs. VHS
What a game this was between the Bulldogs and the Indians, but VHS pulled out the win in a shootout.
Vidalia scored one goal in the first half of the game to take the early lead on Toombs. In the second half VHS added one more goal, but TCHS came back with two goals to tie the game at 2-2 and force overtime.
After no goals were scored during overtime, the game went to a shootout. During the shootout the Indians found the back of the net 4 times, while Toombs managed just 2, giving VHS the win.
Dawson Harvey and Julian Marin-Vital scored the goals for the Bulldogs.
Girls vs. SEB
It was a tough game for the Lady Bulldogs as they took on the Lady Yellow Jackets of SEB on Friday in The Pit. SEB scored three goals in the first half of the game to pull out to a commanding lead. They added one more in the second half as they took the win over TCHS, 4-0.
Boys vs. SEB
In the boys game Toombs found the back of the net three times in the first half as they built up a 3-1 halftime lead on the Jackets. In the second half Toombs managed one more goal, and held off SEB as they scored twice. Toombs came away with a 4-3 victory. Goals for Toombs came from Pablo Castanon, Carlos Sanchez, Yovanny Zamorano, and Harvey. Keeper Alejandro Baez had 9 saves in the game. This week Toombs hosted Jeff Davis on Tuesday after presstime, and will be back in action on Thursday at Swainsboro at 5:00 p.m.
