Hammock Heading To BPC
Last Thursday in the Vidalia High School auditorium Riley Hammock signed her letter of intent to play soccer for the Lady Barons of Brewton-Parker College. Hammock is a fouryear starter for the Lady Indians as a center mid, and was part of the State Runner-up team. She was selected as Second Team All-Region her sophomore year. She has played in 61 matches for VHS and finishes with a record of 4119 in her time with the team. She has scored six goals this season and is a Captain of the team this year.
Hammock said, “BPC has a great Christian atmosphere. The coach was very enthusiastic and encouraging, and I felt like it was a good fit for me. I want to thank Coach Harn, my parents, Coach Prince, and my teammates.”
Head Coach William Harn stated, “We are excited for her of course. She has given great effort throughout her career and this is what can come from that. Riley is a representation of the Indian Spirit, and she has a chance to move on and get better. She has definitely been a leader for us on and off the field, and she is a good role model for our younger girls.”
Her mother Jaime added, “I think this is going to be good for her. Smaller classes, smaller Christian school, and to be able to play soccer I think all around is going to be good for her. It is a good school and we are going to be able to see her play and we are excited about that.”
Robert, her father said, “She has always pushed herself to be the best she can be. She is very outgoing, a true leader, and is just a great all around child. We just couldn't ask for a better kid, and we are looking forward to this for her.”
