Obituaries
Mr. Ronald Lamar Braswell, age 87, of Adrian, died on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the Scott Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Braswell was born in Swainsboro and attended high school in Swainsboro where he played football. As a teenager, he worked on his family’s farm and moved to Adrian in 1965. He worked for a short time as a machine mechanic at the pants factory in Wrightsville before joining Adrian Housing as a road crew foreman, where he was responsible for setting up new homes, apartments and portable school buildings. He retired in 1999 after over 40 years of service. He attended the Mt. Olive Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Lamar “Tarbucket” Braswell and Adrice Loretta Cooper Braswell; his wife of 58 years, EllaVee Reagin Braswell; his former wife, Clara Susie Peebles; 1 daughter, Cathy Braswell; and 3 siblings, Bobby Braswell, Linda Poole and Janeen Odell Oglesby.
Survivors include his children, Sharon McKenzie (Rick), Nolensville, TN, Dane Braswell, Adrian, Jeffery Braswell, East Dublin, and Marsha Hightower Poole (Terry), East Dublin; siblings, Ronella Hobby, Augusta, Gale Smallwood (James), JoAnn Gruby (Rick), Canoochee, Wayne Braswell, Swainsboro, and Janette Simmons (Jackey), Swainsboro; 8 grandchildren, Christian Tyler McKenzie, Amber Reagin Allen, Caitlin Joyce Kritz, Chase Anthony Braswell, Jordan Leigh Braswell, Lee Hightower, Shane Poole, and Nicole Poole; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, with Rev. L.T. Logue and Rev. Jimmy Wright officiating. Interment followed in Braswell Cemetery in Adrian.
Pallbearers were Chase Braswell, Mike Soles, Ricky McKenzie, Shane Allen, Autry Brantley and Jack Hinton.
Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
