RTCA Tennis Wins Region
It was a good week for Robert Toombs Christian Academy tennis last week as both boys and girls teams won the Region Championship. RTCA took all individual Championships as well as both doubles matches. Coach Jacob Lord said, “Any time we get to compete is a great time. It was a very competitive day between all matches. It was something we needed to get ready for State next week. We will spend two days competing to bring home a possible State Championship to RTCA. All we can do is be ready and compete each time we step on the court in the single elimination tournament next week.
“I was proud of all of our athletes. Steven had to battle back from the loser bracket early for the Championship and played a total of six matches in one day. Both of our girls doubles teams have come a long way since the start of the season. I'm proud of Addie and Caroline and their Championship. If they will continue to work on it, we will have two more years and hopefully more hardware with those two together. Ellie has been a consistent player all year. If you watch her play, she is just so quick; it's hard to get her out of position. Jackson and Nelson are a tough combination. I look forward to them making a run in boys doubles.”
Robert Toombs Christian Academy was in Macon on Monday and Tuesday of this week to compete in the GISA State Individuals Championship Matches. The girls will compete Monday and the boys will follow on Tuesday. Matches will begin at 9:00 a.m. and a Champion will be crowned at the end of the day. If RTCA does well, their team will be eligible for the Team State matches the following week.
