Three Area Residents Qualify In Bid for D-156 House Seat

Three area residents have qualified to seek the District 156 Georgia House seat previously held by Greg Morris of Vidalia. Morris resigned from the House in March following his election to the State Transportation Board for the 12th Congressional District.

Qualifying last week were two Republicans: Leesa Hagan, a small business owner from Vidalia, and Wally Sapp, a small business owner from Baxley. Also qualifying was Democrat Wright Gres, a writer from Appling County.

District 156 includes Montgomery and Toombs counties and portions of Jeff Davis and Appling counties.

The special election to fill the seat has been set for June 15. The last day to register to vote in the election is May 17. Early voting begins on May 24.
