BPC Fishing Ranked 17th in ACA Preseason Poll
The Brewton-Parker College bass fishing program was tabbed as the No. 17-ranked program in the nation according to the latest Association of Collegiate Anglers Preseason Poll, the ACA announced on Tuesday.
The poll is comprised of votes from top coaches, schools, media personnel, and fishing industry personalities that are involved with collegiate fishing.
The Barons closed out the 202021 season ranked No. 12 in the country based on their finishes throughout the season. Brewton-Parker was noted by the ACA as a strong core of anglers with the ability to fish well on a variety of locations across the country. Last season, the Barons earned points at each of the five ACA events. Brewton-Parker garnered at least one angler within the Top-25 in three of the five events.
Brewton-Parker gathered a fifthplace finish at the 2021 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship — the program’s best ACA performance. Head Coach Stephen Birchfield Jr. listed the duo of Caleb Barrow and Reese Kingston as well as the duo of Blake Stephenson and Corey Yaden as the top returners for the upcoming season.
Barrow and Kingston are touted as the strongest boat for BPC and are primed to compete for national titles. Stephenson and Yaden gathered a continued from page
fifth-place finish at the National Championship earlier this summer and look to continue competing nationally.
Coach Birchfield mentioned his excitement for the program and those returning from last season’s roster. “I am proud of the young men and women who have put in the work to receive this type of recognition,” Birchfield said. “We have a good program here that’s only getting better.” “Last year we finished as the strongest team in the state and one of the strongest in the southeast,” Birchfield added. “Our program is growing as a national contender, and we are excited for the opportunity to compete this season.”
