TCHS Gets Two More Wins
The Toombs County High School Bulldogs softball team added two more wins to their total last week as they picked up wins over Wheeler County and Washington County. That moves their record to 4-1 on the year.
vs. Wheeler
Krista Cantwell got the win in the circle for Toombs as she went five innings and allowed just two hits with five strikeouts. Shay Stringer led the way at the plate as she went 2-3, with Nora Grace Mercer 1-3, but with 4 RBI's.
After a scoreless first inning, Toombs got their bats going in the top of the second as they plated seven run to jump into the lead. TCHS added two more in the third inning to hold a 9-0 lead.
Wheeler picked up their only run of the game in bottom of the third inning, but one more for Toombs in the fourth, and six in the fifth gave the Bulldogs a 16-1 victory.
vs. Washington
Toombs ran away with the win over the Golden Hawks of Washington County on Friday of last week. Toombs scored eight times in the top of the first inning as they took control of the game. They added six more in the second and then closed the game out with three in the top of the third inning to take a 17-0 win. Cantwell again got the win for Toombs. Arlie Gooden, Brinley Miller and Cantwell led with 2 RBI's each. This week Toombs was scheduled to play Treutlen on Monday, but that game was cancelled due to weather. They are scheduled to play Washington County at home on Wednesday of this week at 6:00 p.m., and will play next on Thursday at Swainsboro at 6:00 p.m. TCHS will wrap up the week on Friday with Bryan County coming to town at 4:30 p.m.
