Indians Cross Country Races In Americus
The Vidalia High School Indians Cross Country and J.R. Trippe teams traveled to Americus to compete in the Furlow Fast Feet Invitational Saturday, August 21, for their season opener.
VHS
The Lady Indians brought home a champion in the girls' race with Sarah Owen dominating the field with a time of 21:42. Freshman Georgia Meredith ran a personal best time of 24:17, placing 7th. Kaitllyn Allen, Allie Whitaker and Aleah Ajodah joined forces with Owen and Meredith and finished in 2nd place in the team standings to Lee County.
The Indians placed 2nd also as a team to Lee County with Luke Palmer leading the pack, followed by Andrew and Daniel Hodges. Palmer placed 3rd, Andrew Hodges placed 6th and Daniel Hodges was close behind, placing 7th. Freshmen Jude Owen and Chamlee Evans had outstanding races to help secure the team's 2nd place finish.
Trippe
The J.R Trippe Middle School team also placed 2nd to Lee County. The top five finishers for this team were Cash Driggers, Simon Collins, Colt Cooler, Nic Foskey and Gabe Cleghorn. Driggers placed 2nd with Simon Collins close behind. Driggers and Collins both had performances that exceeded all middle school performances over the last two years.
“These athletes have had an excellent season opener, and they have their sights set on their next race at Mary Persons on this Saturday.” Coach Mandy Godbee said.

Handy Andy Stud – Antonio Barron is this week's Handy Andy “Stud” of the week. The Handy Andy Stud award is given each week for outstanding effort, attitude and leadership in the VHS weight room.
