Three No-No’s In A Row

Three No-No’s In A Row Three No-No’s In A Row

What a week it was for the pitching staff of Vidalia High School’s softball team. They played three games last week with a different pitcher throwing in each game. All three, Tymber Harris, Bailey Holland, and Madison Starr, threw nohitters as the Indians defeated Bacon County, Islands, and East Laurens.

Vs. Bacon

Against the Red Raiders of Bacon County on Tuesday at home, Harris was in the circle and took care of business for the Indians. Harris struck out the side in the first three innings of the game to record nine straight outs by strikeout.

Vidalia picked up just one run in the first inning. Tori Wright walked and then stole second. A walk to Emma Humphrey put two runners on base, and then Wright came in to score on an error on a ball hit by Alli Taufmann.

In the bottom of the second inning Harris walked with Crystal Franklin coming in to run for the pitcher. Franklin was moved over to second on a bunt, and that was followed by a two-run home run by Starr to put VHS up 3-0.

VHS blew the game open in the third inning. Humphrey led off with a single, and a single by Rileigh Robinson put two runners on base. Taufmann hit a shot into right field to bring in one run. Jesslyn Collins drove in two runs for a 6-0 lead. VHS added three more runs in the inning to take a 9-0 lead over the Red Raiders.

Harris held over the next two innings to get the win, and the no hitter for the Indians, 9-0. Harris struck out 13 batters in the game, meaning only two outs were not from strikeout.

Vs. Islands Holland was returning to the circle for the first time since she had been injured several weeks ago, and she made the most of it with the second no-hitter in a row for the Indians. Holland struck out eight batters over her seven innings pitched, and the VHS defense had a very good game behind their pitcher.

VHS scored three runs in the bottom continued from page

of the first inning to take the early lead on Islands. They added one more run in the third inning and another in the sixth on their way to a 5-0 win.

Collins led VHS with two RBI’s and Wright added two hits in the game.

Vs. E. Laurens

The Indians had three home runs against the Falcons of East Laurens on Friday afternoon on the road. Humphrey hit a solo and a two-run homerun with Wright adding a solo shot and a double. The two-run shot by Humphrey put VHS up 9-0 in the top of the fourth inning. They added another run in the fourth for a 10-0 lead heading to the fifth inning of the game.

Starr struck out the side in the bottom of the fifth inning to close out the win, and the third no-hitter in a row for the Indians’ pitchers. Starr stuck out 10 batters over the game, while walking none, but she did hit one batter. The Indians won the game 10-0 over the Falcons. This week Vidalia was at Toombs County on Tuesday after presstime. They will have a huge matchup on Thursday as VHS, the #1 team in the state, takes on Jeff Davis, the #2 team in the state. The first pitch of that game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. VHS is currently 13-3 on the year and they are 7-1 in the Region. The Indians will be in Loganville on Friday for a game against River Ridge at 8:00 p.m. and then on Saturday against North Gwinnett at 1:00 p.m. and Northgate at 3:00 p.m.
