Mr. Winton Williamson, age 83, of the Blue Ridge Community, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a brief illness.
Mr. Williamson was a native of Toombs County, and lived in the Blue Ridge Community all of his life. He was a 1955 graduate of Lyons High School. After graduating, he began farming with his father and continued to farm until 1976. He retired after 42 years as Vice-President of Peoples Bank in Lyons. He was a former long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and served as deacon, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons, where he also served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Williamson, Sr., and Mary Branch Williamson; and 1 brother, Lee Williamson, Jr.
His family includes his wife of 50 years, Margie Braddy Williamson of Blue Ridge; 2 children, Donna R. Spikes of Blue Ridge, and Shane Williamson and wife Cynthia of Hawkinsville; 3 grandchildren, Jessica Williamson, Gage Williamson, and Taylor Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Dannie Williams and Rev. Don Paterson officiating. Burial followed in Wilkes Cemetery at Blue Ridge.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Oglesby, Marlon Oglesby, Chris Braddy, Jason Braddy, and Emory Mixon.
