Mr. Jerry Thomas Horne, age 74, of Soperton, died on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at his
home. Mr. Horne was born in Wheeler County and lived most of his life there until he moved to Treutlen County in 2002. He was a 1966 graduate of Montgomery High School. In the 1970s he worked with Union Camp in Higgston, and in the late 1970s he ran a dozer at the Treutlen County landfill. In the 1980s he worked for Container Corporation at the Ochwalkee Woodyard in McRae. In 1994 he opened M S Garage at I-16 and Hwy. 29, which continues to be run by his family. He was a former member of the Glenwood Church of God and the Soperton Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Minyard Horne and Nellie Marie Bridges Horne; his paternal grandfather, Henry Horne; and 3 sisters, Gail Nabb, Sandra Horne and Brenda Aaron.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lottie Brown Horne; 2 sons, Clint Horne, Atlanta, and Ellie Horne (Brooke), Soperton; 1 brother, Gary Horne, Glenwood; 1 sister, Mary McCoy (Marvin), Savannah; 4 grandchildren, Wyatt Thomas Horne, Abigail Meredith Logue, Colton Harrison, and Raelynn Woodward; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service was conducted on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, with Rev. Gilbert Posey officiating.
Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
