Mr. Michael Allen Tanner, age 53, died on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Candler Hospital after a long battle with Covid.
Mr. Tanner was born in Savannah. He graduated from Jenkins High School and Georgia Southern University, where he played football (#40) for legendary Coach Erk Russell. He was a foreman for the Georgia Ports Authority, where he worked for the past 29 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Tanner; 1 sister, Donna Tanner Walker; and his grandparents, Ivy and Mabel Tanner and Queenez Gordy.
Survivors include his fiancee’, September Harper of Savannah; his mother, Rebecca Tanner of Lyons; 1 sister, Debbie Tanner ( John Moore) of Lyons,; 1 brother, Chris Tanner (Christina) of Vidalia; 1 stepdaughter, Peyton Roberson; 1 stepson, Gage Graham; and several nieces, nephews, his work family at Georgia Ports.
A Celebration of his life was held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 4:00 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah.
