Mrs. Villetes “Leat” Parrish Young, ….

Mrs. Villetes “Leat” Parrish Young, age 68, of Higgston, died on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Emory University Hospital in Decatur after an extended illness.

Mrs. Young was a native of Johnson County, living in Soperton and Mt. Vernon for a few years before moving to Higgston in 1986. She was a charter member and former First Lady of Abundant Life Apostolic Church of Vidalia, where she taught Sunday school many years, sang, and served as Section Seven Ladies Director for several years. Currently, she was First Lady of Apostolic Truth Ministries of Eastman. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Patricia Young; her parents, Willie Lee Parrish and Juanita Toler Parrish; and 2 brothers, Troy Parrish and Clint Parrish. Her family includes her husband of 51 years, Rev. John H. Young, Sr., of Higgston; 2 children, Pastor John H. Young, Jr., and wife Lisa of Higgston, and Brenda K. Collins and husband Chris of Savannah; 6 grandchildren, Hannah Young, Trent Young and wife Michaela, Brianna Young, Landon Collins and wife Raelyn, Denna Jackson and husband Trevor, and Sarah Padgett and husband C.J.; 3 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., at Abundant Life Apostolic Church, with Pastor Mark Fogarty and Rev. John H. Young, Sr., officiating. Burial followed in Tarrytown City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gary Widener, Dwayne Love, Johnny Adams, Mark Scott, Cameron Coleman, Tony Piper, Chris Rigby, and Robert Koler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abundant Life by visiting their website at alifeministries.net.
