Obituaries

Ms. Barbara Jean Miller Phillips, age 67, of Vidalia, died on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a sudden illness.

Ms. Phillips was born in Lyons, and grew up there and in Jeff Davis County. She was a homemaker, and formerly attended the Lyons Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Thomas Miller, Sr., and Mary Lou Hutto Miller; and 7 siblings, Joyce Ann Bryant, Mildred Sue Harvey, Jeanette Trull, Pearline Trull, Shirley Cowart, Mattie Lou Miller, and Thomas Miller, Jr. Her family includes 2 sons, Scott W. Phillips and Jason Colbert of Vidalia, and Chris Phillips of the Racket Town Community; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Phillips, Olivia Phillips, McKinnley Phillips, Layten Phillips, Carson Colbert, and Conner Colbert; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 4:00 p.m., at the Joe Miller Cemetery near Lothair, with Vicki Roberson officiating.
