VHS Hosts Cheer Classic
The Vidalia High School Indians competition cheerleaders held their 21st Annual Sweet Onion Cheer Classic on Saturday in the VHS gymnasium. The event was a big success as always with 17 middle school teams and 16 high school teams competing on the day. The middle school teams got the day started off with the morning session. J.R. Trippe and Toombs County Middle School both were part of that morning group with the Bullpups from Toombs taking third place. For the middle schools in the small division Savannah Christian took top honors, with Metter coming in second place and Toombs County finishing in third place. For the large division Richmond Hill was in the top spot with Ebenezer in second place and Southeast Bulloch in third place.
The high school competition was across five divisions. For Single A the order was Calvary Day, ECI, and Johnson County. continued from page
In the AA Division it went Dodge County in first, Bleckley County in second, Vidalia took third, Swainsboro was fourth, Toombs was fifth, and East Laurens was sixth.
Mary Persons was the only competitor in AAA, West Laurens was the only team in 4A, and in 6A Houston County was first and Richmond Hill was second.
Other than a few bobbles by the local teams it was a good day for cheerleading, and there were some top notch performances over the competition.
