War Eagles Over Crusaders
Robert Toombs Christian Academy's football team took on the War Eagles of Brentwood Academy in Sandersville last Friday night. It was a tough game for the Crusaders as they dropped their seventh game of the year. Brentwood put the first score of the game on the board and took a 7-0 lead over RTCA. Later in the first RTCA had a 29-yard pass from TJ Stanley to Tripp Durden down to the oneyard line. That set up a touchdown run by Jashaun Powell. The PAT was no good, but that made the score 7-6 with RTCA trailing. Brentwood scored the next two touchdowns to push their lead to 19-6 over RTCA. The Crusaders got a big play on an 83-yard pass from Stanley to Durden all the way to the 7-yard line. RTCA was not able to punch it in for the score though and turned the ball over on downs at the threeyard line.
Brentwood wasted no time as they connected on a 97-yard pass for a touchdown to give them a 26-6 lead over RTCA wth 6:30 left in the first half of the game.
In the third quarter Brentwood took a 40-6 lead, and put one more touchdown on the board in the third to take a 47-6 lead to the fourth.
RTCA did get some good runs from Powell in the fourth, but RTCA did not get into the end zone again as they lost the game 47-6. This week RTCA will be at Bulloch Academy in Statesboro on Friday night with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
