Mr. Elton Sharpe, age 81, ….

Mr. Elton Sharpe, age 81, of Vidalia, died on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Hazlehurst Court Care and Rehab after an extended illness. Mr. Sharpe was a native of the Rock Springs Community in Toombs County and was a graduate of Toombs Central School. He earned an Associate’s degree from Berry College in Rome and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Valdosta State University. He was a certified public accountant, working with Piggly Wiggly Southern for 15 years and with Tom Moore and Associates for 12 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving 4 years, and was a former member of the Vidalia Lions Club. He was a member of the Vidalia Church of God, where he served on the Finance Committee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Linda Sharpe; 1 infant son, Stephen Elton Sharpe; and his parents, Roscoe Sharpe and Eliza Grace Joyce Sharpe. His family includes 2 children, Susan Mobley and husband Mike of Lyons, and Darrell Sharpe and wife Christy of Vidalia; and 2 grandchildren, Kayla Horne of Statesboro, and Sarah Kate Sharpe of Vidalia.

The funeral service was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Nathan Pittman officiating. Burial followed in the Sharpe Cemetery near Alston. Pallbearers were James Mobley, Doyle Williams, Larry Williams, Curt Williams Brett Williams, Jeff Lawrence and Mike Mobley.
