Woman Hurt When Train Collides With Car
A woman was injured in a train vs. car mishap in Lyons on Wednesday, October 27, around 5 p.m. The accident occurred at the intersection of South Monroe and Georgia Highway 292 as the driver the vehicle, Dominique Latisha Hunt, 22, of Lyons was attempting to cross the railroad tracks as a train approached.
Hunt was transported from the scene to be treated for her injuries, but a passenger in the vehicle, Lanny Cross, 24, of Macon, was apparently unhurt in the crash.
Lyons Police Chief Wesley Walker said witnesses stated that Hunt drove across the tracks into the path of the Central Georgia Railway engine. He said there are no electric alert devices at this section of the track, which passes through Lyons.
The case has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol for further investigation.
