RTCA Rolls Over Memorial
It was a wild night for the Crusaders football team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy as they hosted the Matadors of Memorial Day School. RTCA put up as many points in this game, 65, as they had scored over the past five games total. The offense was working on Friday night as they battled against one of their rivals.
RTCA got the scoring started as they capped off an early drive with a 4-yard run from Jashaun Powell. With the kick from Justin Bowers RTCA was on top 7-0.
Memorial got on the board later in the first with a 1-yard run, but they went for the two-point conversion and did not get it, so RTCA led 7-6.
Powell broke free for a long, 72yard touchdown on the Crusaders' next possession. Bowers tacked on the extra point for a 14-6 lead. Quarterback TJ Stanley then had a long run for 74 yards and a score that made it 20-6, and then late in the first quarter Stanley connected with the team's lone senior, Clayton Meadows on a 7-yard touchdown strike to put RTCA on top 27- 6.
In the second quarter the Matadors added a score to close the lead to 27-12, but RTCA put two more touchdowns on the board in the quarter. The first came on a 12-yard run by Powell to push the lead to 33-12, and Meadows caught a 24-yard pass from Stanley for another touchdown. That made the halftime score 39-12 with RTCA well out in front.
In the third quarter Memorial scored on a 47-yard run and added a 22-yard touchdown run to make the score 39-24, but RTCA found the end zone again late in the third on a Hunter Ennis 35-yard run. With that touchdown by Ennis, the score was 45-24 heading to the fourth quarter. continued from page

RTCA got two more touchdowns in the game, the first on a 39-yard run by Stanley, and then Ennis scored on a 45-yard run. Bowers added the PAT on both of those, and the score was 65-30.
RTCA held from there to take the win, 6530 over the Matadors. With the win RTCA will enter the GISA State AA Playoffs as the #8 seed. That will put them against #1 Brentwood in the first round on November 19 at Brentwood with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
