Woman Seriously Injured In Two-Vehicle Wreck
A local woman is being treated at a Savannah hospital after she was seriously injured in a two-vehicle wreck in rural Toombs County last week. The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the mishap, reported that Sara Gonzales, 28, of Lyons and Kelmer Martin, 66, of Swainsboro were involved in the crash on Georgia Highway 152 after 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1. Deputies arrived at the scene of the collision near McLain Farms and discovered two wrecked vehicles in a field off of the roadway. Based on the preliminary information by responding deputies, it appears that Gonzales was traveling on a dirt lane that ran parallel with the highway when Martin left the highway, traveled through a ditch and into the field and struck Gonzalez’s vehicle. Gonzales was flown from the scene by helicopter to Savannah. Martin was apparently uninjured.
The accident has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol Post 18 (Reidsville) for further investigation.
