Bomb Threat Causes Evacuation at Courthouse
A bomb threat at the Toombs County Courthouse Monday morning brought about an evacuation of the area as law enforcement searched the premises, but an all-clear restored operations to normal by 1 p.m.
Toombs County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Captain Jordan Kight, said his office responded to the call to the courthouse after receiving a report that a bomb threat had been phoned into the Magistrate’s Office. A thorough search turned up no evidence of a bomb.
The courthouse parking area and roads surrounding the courthouse were blocked off as law enforcement investigated.
Kight said investigations into the incident are continuing.
