Dalley Heading To Mercer
Vidalia High School multisport athlete Ty Dalley signed his letter of intent to play baseball for Mercer University in Macon. He signed his scholarship last Thursday in the auditorium of VHS. Dalley has been a standout baseball and basketball player for the Indians, but even though his dad is the Head Basketball Coach at VHS, Dalley has decided to focus on baseball and to take his talents to the next level. Dalley has a career batting average of .338 for VHS with 62 hits, 13 doubles, 1 triple, and 7 home runs. He has 56 RBI's and has scored 57 runs. Dalley was selected to the 2021 All Region 1st Team, and was on the Georgia Dugout Club's 2021 2nd Team All State. Dalley said, “Very thankful for this. It is a big blessing to be able to continue my career at a university like Mercer. I'm thankful to my parents for all they have done. I want to go to where I can make an impact right away, and I think I can do that at Mercer. They are one of the top mid-major universities in the country and that was part of the decision as well, just a good fit for me. Tommy, his father, added, “Just a tremendous feeling. It is a tribute to him and his work ethic. He is just working early in the morning and late at night. As a dad I couldn't be more happy for him. He is going to be close to home, and getting to play Division 1 baseball. I know he will continue to work and it is just a good fit for him.”
Coach Brent Korn stated, “He is a two sports guy that could have chosen either sport. He is a scary guy in the lineup, batting from the left side with the chance to go yard every time he is at the plate. He is a high character kid and works hard, and this is just a good fit for him.”
