Indians Split With West Laurens
The Vidalia High School baseball teams wrapped up the VHS Tip-Off Tournament on Tuesday of last week with a pair of games against the Raiders of West Laurens. The Lady Indians fell in their game while the boys ran away with a win.
Girls
The VHS girls fought hard against the Lady Raiders of West Laurens, but found themselves trailing 2-14 in the second period of the game. Into the third period the Raiders had increased their lead to 37-22, and then to 47-22.
West Laurens went on to take the win 54-27 over Vidalia.
Boys
In the boys game VHS took the early lead with a three-pointer by Bryson Whited. West Laurens went ahead 4-3, but Jacaree Washington added a three for a 6-4 lead for VHS. Another three from Whited made it 9-4.
By the midway point of the second period the Indians were on top 27-10 on the Raiders. Jordan Powell got a shot to fall, and then Whited hit a three from the top of the key to give VHS a 32-14 lead.
In the third period it was a 51-21 lead for Vidalia, and they were up 68-31 halfway through the fourth. VHS took the win 76-36 over the Raiders.
This week Vidalia was at Tattnall County on Tuesday after persstime. They will be back in action on Saturday as they host Montgomery County. The girls game will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the boys to follow.
