Wheeler Boys Win Two
The Bulldogs basketball teams of Wheeler County High School took on Hawkinsville and East Laurens last week with the girls dropping both of their games, including an overtime loss to Hawkinsville, but the boys came out on top in their two contests. vs. Hawkinsville
In the girls game, Wheeler came from behind in the second half to force overtime, but couldn't get the shots to fall in the extra period as they fell to the Red Devils. Wheeler led 8-4 at the end of the first period, but Hawkinsville closed that lead to 18-16 at halftime. In the third period the Devils went ahead and were on top 32-30 heading to the fourth period. In the fourth the Bulldogs tied the game at 42-42 to force overtime. Hawkinsville took the win in OT, 47-44 over Wheeler.
Wheeler was led by Mahogany King with 28 points.
In the boys game, Wheeler had no problems with the Devils as they ran away with a 27-point win. The Bulldogs came out on top, 70-43.

In the girls game, Wheeler jumped out to a 15-10 lead in the first, but were outscored 18-6 in the second as they fell behind 28-21 at halftime. The Falcons continued to pull away in the second half on their way to a 69-35 win over the Bulldogs. King again led the way, this time with 30 points.
In the boys contest, the Bulldogs pulled away from the Falcons to get the win, 63-46.
On Tuesday of this week the Bulldogs hosted Fitzgerald after presstime. They will take on rival Treutlen on Friday at home at 6:00 p.m. and then will be at Vidalia at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
