MaryNell Stewart died Friday, December 10, 2021, at Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia. She was 70 years old. MaryNell was born July 12, 1951, to Lula Irene Joiner and Addison Carnigie (“Buddy” or “A.C.”) Dew in Cobbtown, Georgia. Most of her life she knew Elizabeth Oliver Dew as her mother and Cecil “Wayne” Warren as her brother. On August 18, 1967, she married the love of her life, David Dewayne Stewart. In 1973, they moved to 33 Dancer Street in Santa Claus, Georgia – her residence at the time of her death. MaryNell was a quiet, deeply spiritual disciple who sought to faithfully follow in the way of Jesus – the way of love. She was a member of Oasis Church of God. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she gave sacrificially of herself. She loved children and had a childlike spirit as Jesus taught all to have. She was a nurturer and caregiver who was always willing to serve others.

In the later years of her working career, MaryNell drove a school bus for Vidalia City Schools and later for Toombs County Schools before her retirement in 2015.

MaryNell was predeceased by her parents, Buddy, Elizabeth, and Irene; and by her stepbrother, Wayne. She will be greatly missed by her husband, David, and children, the Reverend Dr. Matt Stewart (Julia) and Leslie McDaniel (Del); grandchildren, Dustin Collins (Autumn, his Dad Stacy Collins), and Atalie Stewart; great-granddaughters, Zoey Johnson and Raelyn Collins. Funeral services for MaryNell Stewart were held Monday, December 13, 11:00 a.m. at Oasis Church of God, 1163 US1, Lyons, GA, with Gilbert Wommack officiating. Interment followed at Reedy Creek Full Gospel Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Willie Screws, Reggie Screws, Wesley Screws, Stacy Collins, Dennis Mosley and Brent Kroll.
