Toombs County Splits With Pirates
The Toombs County High School Bulldogs basketball teams took on Appling County in Baxley last week. The Lady Bulldogs got a win over the Lady Pirates, but the boys lost their game.
Girls vs. Appling
Toombs led the game 8-5 early, and pushed that to 10-5 with a basket from KayKay Mobley. Two more from Mobley and a basket by Corneisha Bullard as TCHS was up 16-8. In the second quarter the score was 20-15 with Toombs in front. Late in the second it was 26-17, and then a three-pointer by Jazmin Dasher made it 29-17.
In the second half Appling kept it close, but the Lady Bulldogs held on to win 45-40.
Boys vs. Appling
In the boys game Toombs came out of the gate slow, and struggled to find their offense in the first quarter. At the end of the first Appling was out in front 16-7. Those shooting struggles continued in the second quarter for TCHS as they were behind 36-13 heading to halftime.
In the second half of the game Toombs was able to keep pace, but they could not make up the difference. At the end of the third the score was 53-28. Appling took the win 64-43.
TCHS was led by Marion James and Gage Herndon each with 11 points.
Toombs hosted Metter on Tuesday after presstime and will be off until after the Christmas holiday.
