Mr. Taylor B. Hart, age 80, of Vidalia, died on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Hart was a native of Uvalda and lived in Vidalia most of his life. He was a journeyman for Georgia Power for 15 years, doing high line construction, and later retired with the post office in Kingsland as a rural letter carrier. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Vietnam Era, and was one of the sailors selected to be part of the ceremony when Hawaii became the 50th state to join the union, and he served in the Naval Reserve. He was a former member of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330. He was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, and a former member of Vidalia Church of God, serving on the Board of Trustees, Men’s Council and was an active member of the church choir. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everette Walter “E.W.” Hart and Eunice Olivia Cowart Hart.
His family includes his wife of 55 years, Peggy Wilkes Hart of Vidalia; 2 children, Shannon Hart and wife Traci of the Center Community, and Kelly Hart of Vidalia; 1 sister, Freddie Hart of St. Augustine, FL; 5 grandchildren, Colby, Blair, Carson, Katie, and Madison and husband Craig; 1 great-granddaughter, Mayleigh; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held on Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Reece Mincey and Rev. Donnie Smith officiating. Burial followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Colby Hart, Blair Barwick, Carson Barwick, Gerald Solie, Grahl Moxley, Tony McLemore, Robert Padgett, and Larry Strange.
