Tough Week For Bulldogs
It was a tough week for the Bulldogs basketball teams of Toombs County High School as they took on Vidalia, Swainsboro, and Tattnall. The Bulldogs lost all six games, but they did play three of those games very close.
Girls vs. VHS
This was a close game throughout. VHS was up 6-3 in the first quarter of the game. Later in the second quarter the Indians were up 15-12, but Toombs went on a run and took a 20-19 lead over the Indians as the first half was winding down.
VHS came back and was on top 27-22 in the third quarter of the game, but Toombs again closed it to 28-25. VHS held off the Lady Bulldogs to get the win, 51-49.
Boys vs. TCHS
The Toombs defense played well against Vidalia in the first half as they held them to their lowest scoring total all season. At the end of the first quarter the Bulldogs held a 6-4 lead over Vidalia. In the second quarter the scoring wasn’t much better, but VHS did take the lead and were on top 11-10 at the end of the first half.
In the third quarter the Bulldogs’ offense continued to have problems as they put just three points on the board. TCHS trailed 23-13 heading to the fourth. In that finals period Vidalia pulled away to take a 4623 win over Toombs.
Girls vs. Swainsboro
Toombs hosted the Tigers of Swainsboro on Friday night. In the girls game Toombs struggled as they only scored 14 points in the game. Swainsboro put 64 points on the board on the way continued from page

Boys vs. Swainsboro
In the boys game, Toombs played the Tigers close, but lost in the end. The score was tied at 10-10 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter went back-and-forth, and when the buzzer sounded the Bulldogs were in the lead, 24-23. The Tigers came out in the third and went on top as they outscored Toombs 14-9. That put them on top 37-33 heading to the fourth. In that final period Toombs held with the Tigers, but in the end lost the game, 52-47.
Girls vs. Tattnall
It was another tough game for the Lady Bulldogs as the Lady Warriors of Tattnall pulled away to a big win. Tattnall won the game 58-23 over TCHS.
Boys vs. Tattnall
Tattnall took the early lead in the boys game and were on top 17-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second the Warriors extended their lead to 3424 heading to halftime.
Toombs closed the gap in the third quarter to 4335. In the fourth quarter Toombs outscored Tattnall 14-9, but fell by just three points to the Warriors, 52- 49. This week Toombs hosted East Laurens on Tuesday after presstime. They will host Jeff Davis on Friday at 6:00 p.m., and then will be at Tattnall County on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
