Mr. Ed Stewart
Mr. Levy Edward “Ed”
Stewart, age 77, died on
December 25, 2021. Mr. Stewart was born in Lyons. He started work at a young age, delivering newspapers from his bike and working at the C& S grocery store with his older brothers. He graduated from Georgia Southern University and then joined the US Navy. Following his service, he moved to Atlanta, where he began his career as an Engineer for Western Electric. He retired from Western Electric/AT& T/Lucent after 30 years. He was a member of the First Redeemer Church of Cumming. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Stewart; his stepfather, Edgar Bass; his mom, Bennie (Lynn) Bass; 2 brothers, Wilbur Stewart and Ralph Stewart; 1 sister, Dorothy (Stewart) McDaniel; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Survivors inclde his wife of 48 years, Linda (Smith) Stewart; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel (Stewart) and Lee Higgins; Rebecca (Stewart) Maume and Matt Majoli; Sarah (Stewart) and Chuck Hodge; 3 grandkids, Alexandra, Jenson, and Ashlee; his sister, Mary Alice (Stewart) Wilder; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
A private family service was held, with burial to occur at a later date at the Georgia National
Cemetery in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons.
