Indians Fall To Tattnall Square

The Vidalia Indians varsity baseball team opened the season Monday night February 14 with a 3-0 loss to Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. The Indians' bats were cold, mustering only two singles by Walker Moncus in seven innings while registering 11 strikeouts. The Indians' defense played well through the first five innings allowing only one run on six hits while turning two double plays and keeping the score at 1-0. However, in the bottom of the sixth inning a couple of two out errors allowed two more runs to score making it 3-0 going into the top of the seventh inning and the Indians' last chance. However, the Indians' bats remained cold going three up and three down with a couple of strikeouts to end the game.

Kevin Cox got the start on the mound and pitched four strong innings scattering four hits while striking out two. Tattnall Square picked up a single run in the bottom of the fourth when their leadoff batter got a hit, stole second and scored on another single. Moncus pitched the fifth inning and Bryce Morley the sixth.

The Indians play three more times this week. They travel to Metter on Thursday starting at 5:30, play Tattnall Square again in Vidalia on Friday starting at 5:45 and travel to Savannah on Saturday where they will play Calvary Day at 4:00 in Grayson Stadium.
