Lady Bulldogs Off To Fast Start

The Toombs County High School soccer teams faced off with Appling County at home on Tuesday and then hosted Tattnall County on Thursday. The girls won both of their games while the boys lost one and tied in the other.

Girls vs. Appling

The Toombs girls had no problems against the Lady Pirates of Appling. Anyadi Colmenares had a big game as she put three goals on the board for the Lady Bulldogs. Gisselle Delgado added a goal as well for Toombs. TCHS held a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half of the game. In the second half Toombs added one more goal, and Appling scored one in the second half. Toombs took the win 4-1.

Boys vs. Appling

In the boys game against the Pirates, Appling held a 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs at the end of the first half. In the second half Toombs got a goal from Julian Marin to tie the game at 1-1. Neither team scored over the remainder of the game; and since it was not a Region contest, they did not go into overtime. The result was a 1-1 tie.

Girls vs. Tattnall

Colmenares led the way again for the Lady Bulldogs as she scored a goal in the first half, and another in the second half for TCHS. That gave them a 2-0 win over Tattnall County. Autumn Jarriel picked up an assist on one of those goals.

Boys vs. Tattnall

In the boys game against the Warriors, Tattnall jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half of the game. In the second half Tattnall added three more goals to their total. Toombs got goals from Axcel Barbosa and Yovanny Zamorano in the second half, but lost the contest 5-2. The Lady Bulldogs are out to a 3-1-1 start to the season and the boys are 1-2-2. This week Toombs begins Region play as they hosted Bacon County on Tuesday after presstime and will travel to Woodville-Tompkins on Friday with the first game at 5:00 p.m.
