TCHS Competes At State

The Toombs County High School wrestling team competed in the GHSA State Traditional Championships last week. Several wrestlers competed in the event with Tank Morris bringing home a State Runner-up.

For the lone Lady Bulldog that wrestled at the State Championships, Alexis Hart dropped her first round match. She bounced back with a win by pin in the consolation first round. She won the next round by pin as well, but fell in the conso third round. For the boys Morris had a good run to his State Runner-up finish at 195lbs. Morris won by pin in the first round. In the second round he took a win in a close match by a 5-3 decision. That moved him into the semifinals against Christian Bostic of Lamar County. It was another close match but Morris won 7-5. In the Championship Morris faced Cody Williams of Dade County. Williams won the match 7-0 over Morris.

Kameron Clark placed sixth for Toombs. He won his first round match by pin, and then won in the second round by major decision, 12-2. Clark lost in the semifinals by pin, and then fell in the conso semis by pin to take sixth place at 113lbs.

At 120lbs. Samuel Register dropped his first round match, but bounced back with a win in the consolation first round by pin. He fell in the next round by pin to end his run. Davin Johson at 132lbs. lost his match by pin, and in the consolations he lost by a 6-3 decision.

Thomas Cloud wrestled at 182lbs. He won his first round match by forfeit, but lost in the quarterfinals by pin. In the consolations he dropped his match by pin. At 220lbs. Wil Watts won his first round match by pin, but dropped his next match by major decision, 12-3. Watts bounced back with a win by pin in the next round, but lost in the next match by pin. Brock Nobles was the final TCHS wrestling, and he was at 285lbs. Nobles lost in the first round by pin, but came back in the consolations to win 4-3 over Tommy Walker of Vidalia. Nobles lost in the next round by a close 7-5 decision.
