VHS Tennis Off To Solid Start
The Vidalia High School tennis teams hosted Dublin on Wednesday of last week, with both the boys and girls getting wins. Then on Saturday the boys traveled to Claxton to face the Tigers and the Bulldogs of Emanuel County Institute, winning against both teams. vs. Dublin
Wednesday night, both girls and boys tennis teams improved their record to 2-0 by defeating Dublin 3-2 and 5-0. For the Girls, Karle McDonald at 2nd singles won, 6-4, 6-1. At 1st doubles, Emma Beck and Kailyn Walker won, 6-2, 7-5, and at 2nd doubles, Abby Brantley and Jesslyn Collins won 6-1, 6-2.
For the boys team, Danny Richardson won at 1st singles, 6-4, 6-2, and at 2nd singles, Brycen Coleman won 6-0, 6-0. Canyon Beck won at 3rd singles 6-1, 6-0.
Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen won at 1st doubles 6-0, 6-1. Cameron Phi llips and Delorenzo Lawrence at 2nd doubles won by forfeit.
vs. Claxton & ECI
Saturday morning, the boys tennis team traveled to Claxton for a three-way match at the Claxton Tennis Center. The boys first faced a tough ECI team winning 2nd singles, 3rd singles and 1st doubles. Junior, Brycen Coleman at 2nd singles remains unbeaten for the season by winning 6-4, 7-5. Senior, Canyon Beck kept his record perfect by winning 3rd singles 7-5, 6-0. Sophomores Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen also continued their winning streak by beating their opponents 6-4, 6-4. Immediately following the match with ECI, the boys faced off with Claxton and won 4-1. Brycen Coleman won 6-0, 6-0, Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen won 6-0, 6-0, Cameron Phillips and Delorenzo Lawrence won 6-1, 6-1, and Canyon Beck won by forfeit.
