Mr. Dwayne “Keith” Carpenter Sr., age 79, of Soperton, died on Monday, February 21, 2022, at his

home. Mr. Carpenter was born in Habersham County and graduated from Habersham High School in the early 1960s. In the 1970’s he moved to Treutlen County and worked with GFF as a Loom Mechanic until the plant’s closure in 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Clifford Carpenter and Marjorie Chapman Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Janice “Nanny” Carpenter, Soperton; his children, Dwayne Carpenter, Jr. (Jackie), Soperton, Lynn Carpenter, Soperton, Charles Carpenter, Sr. (Wendy), Hampton, and Dawn Helton (Scott), Clarkesville; his grandchildren, Charles William Carpenter, Jr., Brittany Mc-Daniel (Nathan), Taylor Carpenter, Lindsay Carpenter, and Derek Gardner; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jayce McDaniel and Sheila Grace Brown.

His family received friends on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home.

Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
