Heritage Moves To 8-1
The Eagles baseball team of Vidalia Heritage Academy continued their solid season as they picked up three more wins to move to 8-1 on the season. They played on Tuesday at home against Sherwood Christian and then were at Twiggs Academy for a double header on Thursday.
Vs. Sherwood
Sherwood took the early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. VHA got a leadoff solo home run by Ledger Curl in the bottom of the frame to close it to 2-1. Sherwood added three runs in the top of the third inning, but a big bottom half for the Eagles saw them plate nine runs to take a 10-5 lead.
VHA added a run in the fourth, but three in the top of the fifth from Sherwood closed it to 11-8. Heritage answered with six runs in the bottom of the fifth and then one more in the sixth as they took the win 18-8 over Sherwood.
JT Cofield led the Eagles with an incredible 8 RBI’s in the game with RJ Wells adding three more. Mason Beacham got the win on the mound as he went 4 2/3 innings with 6 strikeouts.
Vs. Twiggs Game 1 The Eagles had no problems with Twiggs in either game as they rolled to two big wins. VHA got the scoring started in the top of the first inning with one run. They added another in the second inning and then one in the third to lead 3-0.
It was a big top of the fifth inning for VHA that broke the game open as they scored six runs to lead 9-0. VHA held in the bottom of the inning to take the win by the run rule, 9-0.
Jacob Dean led VHA with 3 RBI’s, with Curl and Ethan Sikes each adding 2. Greer Posey got the win on the mound for Heritage with 8 strikeouts.
Game 2
In the second game Heritage was the home team and jumped out in front with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Twiggs managed to pick up a run in the top of the second, but VHA plated four more runs in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-1 lead.
Heritage scored two more in the fourth and held on in the fifth for a run rule win, 10-1.
Dean and Sikes each had 2 RBI’s in the game with Curl picking up 4 hits. Sikes was the winning pitcher with 9 strikeouts.
This week Heritage had a Region game against David Emanuel on Tuesday at home after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday in Stillmore as they again face off with DEA with the first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
