Mrs. Carolyn Sammons Oliver
Mrs. Carolyn Sammons Oliver, age 79, of Uvalda, died Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was born in Bartow, Florida, and lived most of her life in Toombs and Montgomery counties. Carolyn was a 1960 graduate of Vidalia High School, earned an Associate’s degree from Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. She retired as a teacher after seventeen years from Wheeler County Middle School in Glenwood. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star in Dublin. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Oliver; parents E. A. “Sam” Sammons and Annie Mae Willis Sammons.
Survivors include 5 children, Patti W. Edwards of East Strousburg, PA, Deborah Fountain and husband Danny of Mt. Vernon, Judy Edge and husband Jody of Alamo, Johnny NeeSmith and wife Deborah of the Normantown community, and Rhonda Taylor and Joey Martin of Uvalda; stepchildren, Sandi, Sabrina, Trudy, Janet, Allen and Barry; 2 sisters, Betty Dees and husband Wayne of the New Branch Community, and Glenda Mosley and husband Glenn of Vidalia; one brother Ricky Sammons and wife Janice of New Branch; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Karl Hay and R.M. Horne officiating. Burial followed at Long Pond Cemetery in Montgomery County.
Pallbearers were Daniel Fountain, Dalton Fountain, Nolan Warnock, Tyler Oliver, Chance Brewer, Branden Foskey, and Sam NeeSmith.
