Vikings Win 2 Of 3 Last Week
The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team played a Region series against the Red Devils of Hawksinsville last week and won two or three games.
Game 1
In the first game of the week in Hawkinsville on Tuesday, the Devils ran away from Treutlen early. Hawkinsville scored nine runs in the first inning. They added two in the second and one more in the fourth to lead 12-0 over the Vikings.
Treutlen did get on the board in the fifth with two runs, but it was not enough as they lost by the run rule, 12-2.
Game 2
Up next was a double header in Soperton on Friday, and the Vikings bounced back with two wins. In the first game of the double header, Treutlen got on the board first with two runs in the third inning.
Hawkinsville scored one run in the top of the fifth, and another in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 2-2. Neither team scored in the seventh to send the game to extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Vikings plated a run to take the win, 3-2 over the Devils. Trace Peeples led the Vikings with two RBI’s, with Pierce Walker driving in one run.
Game 3
In the night cap of the double header, the Vikings picked up another win. This time the Devils took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning. But a big sixth inning for Treutlen put them on top 4-1, and they held on in the top of the seventh to secure the win.
Kolby McLendon drove in two runs in the game, and Collin Beall added one RBI. The Vikings are now 9-7 on the year and are 7-5 in the Region. This week they will play a series against Johnson County. The played the first game on Tuesday after presstime and will play a double header on Friday in Wrightsville with the first game at 4:00 p.m.
