Mr. Michael Hitchcock, age ….

Mr. Michael Hitchcock, age 55, of the Ohoopee Community, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Hitchcock was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and was a 1984 graduate of Toombs Central School. He retired after 23 years Georgia State Prison in Reidsville as a correctional officer, and currently he was working with Trane in Vidalia. He was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his brother, William David Hitchcock. His family includes his wife, Janell Hester of Ohoopee; his parents, Louise and Jerry Hitchcock; 1 sister, Vicki Kramer and husband Melvin of Cedar Crossing; 1 stepson, Eric Cook and wife Rosie of Ohoopee; 3 grandchildren, Peyton, Michael, and Danni; 1 niece, Jodi Kramer; and 1 nephew, Jeremy Kramer.

The funeral service was held on Friday, April 1, 2022,in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Reece Mincey and Pastor Myrtice Shipes officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Kramer, Billy Willett, J.R. Greer, Glenn Wilkes, Jamie Powell, Robert Vaughn, and Robbie Vaughn. Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Paul Anderson Youth Home, P.O. Box 525, Vidalia, GA 30475.
