Ms. Deloris Holland Powell, age ….

Ms. Deloris Holland Powell, age 81, of Vidalia, died on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. Mrs. Powell was a native of Toombs County and grew up in the Johnson Corner Community. She was a 1958 graduate of Lyons High School, and she lived in Vidalia and Uvalda most of her life. She retired from the Toombs County Tax Assessors after 20 years, and she attended Edmond Chapel Church of God and Uvalda Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Ward Holland, Sr., and Stella Bazemore Holland; 3 sisters, Louise Holland, Derotha Holland Rocker, and Helen Holland Higgs; 2 brothers, Pete Holland and Joe Holland, Jr.; and her devoted friend, Gary Osborne. Her family includes 2 sons, Glynn Powell and Brian Powell of Vidalia; 3 grandchildren, Reed Powell of Ashville, NC, and Nicholas Powell and Caroline Powell of Vidalia; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Pamela Daughtry of Vidalia. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Reece Mincey and Gary Martin officiating. Burial followed at Edmond Chapel Church of God Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herbert Higgs, Charles James, Randall Holland, Dennis Higgs, Nicholas Powell, and Reed Powell. Honorary pallbearers were James Thompson, Tommy J. Smith, Matthew Higgs, Tony Brinson, Brandon Phillips, and Blake Phillips. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
