Obituaries

Mrs. Margaret Ann Mathis, age 81, of Soperton, died on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Bethany Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Vidalia.

Mrs. Mathis was born in Montgomery County and was a longtime resident of Soperton, She worked at Roydonwear as a machine operator until she retired. She was manager of the T& J Convenience Store in Soperton for many years. She was a former member of the Soperton Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenwood and Bernice Pittman Branch; 2 siblings, L.D. Branch and Sue Graham; and 1 niece, Ronda Edge.

Survivors include her daughter, Tina Phillips (Tony), Vidalia; 3 grandchildren, Andy Phillips (Amanda), Decatur, Amy Phillips, Vidalia, and Ashley Phillips, Vidalia; 7 great-grandchildren, Marissa, Jude, Jensen, Kenzleigh, Taylor, Aubree, Willow; 1 nephew; and 2 nieces.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 12:00 noon, in the Wiliams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home, with Rev. Milton Thomas officiating. In terment followed in Red Bluff Cemetery.

Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
