VHS Tennis Wins 1st Round

The Vidalia High School tennis teams won a pair of matches over Burke County, and then in the first round of the Region Tournament, they secured wins over Toombs County. After defeating Burke County in a nonregion match Monday, the girls and boys tennis teams continued their winning ways Tuesday evening by defeating Toombs County 4-1 in the first round of the Region Tournament.

Wins for the girls team came at 1st Singles, Alli Taufmann (6-0, 6-0), 1st Doubles, Kailyn Walker and Jesslyn Collins (6-0, 6-0), 3rd Singles, Cate Wilcox (6-1, 6-1), and 2nd Doubles, Abby Brantley and Emma Beck (6-0, 6-0).

For the boys, 1st Singles Brycen Coleman won 6-0, 6-3, 2nd Singles, Canyon Beck won 6-4, 6-1, 3rd Singles, Danny Richardson won 6-4, 6-0, and 1st Doubles, Sukumar Paidi, and Jameson Rolen won 6-4, 6-2. The girls and boys will both face Jeff Davis in the 2nd round of the Tournament on April 12 at Jeff Davis High School. Matches start at 9:00 am.
