TCHS Boys Into 2nd Round
The Toombs County High School soccer teams took part in the first round of the GHSA State AA Playoffs last week. The boys got a win over Glenn Hills in Augusta, but the girls season came to an end with a loss to Oglethorpe County.
Girls
It was a tough game for the girls as they were held scoreless by Oglethorpe. Oglethorpe came into the game with a record of 12-2-1 and it showed in the second half. In the first half of the game the Lady Bulldogs kept it close as they allowed just one goal to the Lady Patriots. But in the second half Oglethorpe went on a run as they scored seven more times on the way to an 8-0 win over Toombs. TCHS ends the season with a record of 9-8-1.
Boys
The TCHS boys picked up a big win over the Spartans of Glenn Hills at home last Friday. Toombs put four goals on the board in the first half of the game as they pulled away. That gave them a 4-0 lead at halftime. In the second half of the game Toombs added two more goals. Glenn Hills was able to get on the board in the second half as they scored three goals, but the TCHS boys took the win, 6-3. Toombs got the hat trick from Gustavo Delgado as he scored three goals in the game. Jose Leon added two goals, and Julian Marin-Vital scored a goal and had an assist. Pablo Castanon had two assists, and Eliseo Cruz and Tucker Brodnax each had one assist. That puts Toombs into the second round of the playoffs where they will face off with the Wildcats of Rabun County in Tiger on Thursday with game time still to be determined.
